Accountant-Real Estate Investments/Partnerships  LinkedIn Share

A private registered investment firm is seeking an accounting professional to perform various accounting functions related to partnerships invested in residential and commercial developments. In addition this position will include partnership accounting functions and financial reporting on other alternative investment partnerships. This individual would interface with outside companies involved in managing projects, ensuring all financial aspects of various real estate projects are administered, including capital calls and distributions to investors, and financial statement presentation. This position is a full time or part time position, depending on the applicant’s strengths and experience.

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • GAAP Financial Statement presentation for interim and year end reporting
  • Various Partnership GL and accounting functions
  • Maintenance of various spreadsheets for partnership analysis
  • K-1 preparation in house using tax software or assistance in preparation with outside Tax Accountant
  • Tax compliance support as needed for state and local reporting
  • Coordinate and assist with financials statement audits with outside auditors
  • Assist in developing procedures and systems for regular reporting of Fair Value Measurements in regards to real estate investments(FASC 820)
  • Provide operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist Company in executing company policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Other corporate accounting duties or supervision of duties as assigned

Competency Requirements

  • General understanding of legal documents, loan documents, lease agreements and operating agreements
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel and Word. Advanced knowledge in Excel. Understanding concepts of databases, filtering data, macros, use of mathematical, logical, statistical and financial functions a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and demonstrates a "can-do" positive attitude.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
  • Self-starter with organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities or reprioritization of projects
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Three + years of relevant accounting experience
  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • Experience with real estate development accounting a plus
